Seeking a highly skilled Arabic Speech Therapist (Speech and Language Pathologist) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive speech, language, communication, swallowing, feeding, and voice rehabilitation services to both pediatric and adult patients. This role requires expertise in evidence-based assessment and intervention techniques, strong clinical reasoning skills, and the ability to deliver culturally sensitive care to Arabic-speaking populations, including Emirati nationals.

The Speech Therapist will work collaboratively with physicians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, dietitians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes across outpatient, rehabilitation, long-term care, and homecare settings.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis

  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, communication, voice, fluency, feeding, and swallowing assessments for pediatric and adult patients.
  • Utilize standardized assessment tools, clinical observations, play-based evaluations, instrumental assessments, and advanced diagnostic techniques.
  • Evaluate patients presenting with developmental delays, neurological disorders, speech impairments, language disorders, voice disorders, feeding difficulties, and dysphagia.
  • Assess communication and swallowing functions in patients with complex medical conditions, including tracheostomized and ventilator-dependent individuals.
  • Analyze assessment findings and establish accurate clinical diagnoses and treatment goals.

Speech and Language Therapy Intervention

  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to patient needs and functional goals.
  • Provide therapy for speech sound disorders, language delays, articulation disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders, cognitive-communication deficits, and swallowing difficulties.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions that improve communication skills, social interaction, feeding abilities, oral-motor function, and quality of life.
  • Adapt treatment approaches based on patient progress, family feedback, and multidisciplinary recommendations.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and evidence-based practices to maximize rehabilitation outcomes.

Pediatric Speech and Language Services

  • Deliver engaging, play-based therapy sessions that support speech, language, communication, feeding, and developmental milestones.
  • Design age-appropriate interventions to improve expressive language, receptive language, social communication, literacy readiness, and oral-motor development.
  • Support children with developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder, speech delays, learning difficulties, and feeding challenges.
  • Facilitate participation in home, school, and community environments through functional communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and caregivers to ensure consistent implementation of therapy goals.

Adult Rehabilitation Services

  • Assess and treat adults with neurological, cognitive, speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders.
  • Provide rehabilitation services for patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, head and neck cancer, and other neurological conditions.
  • Develop strategies to improve communication effectiveness, swallowing safety, and functional independence.
  • Support patients requiring alternative and augmentative communication systems where appropriate.

Family-Centered Care

  • Actively involve parents, caregivers, and family members in assessment, treatment planning, and goal setting.
  • Educate families on communication strategies, feeding techniques, and home exercise programs.
  • Provide counseling and guidance to support long-term therapy outcomes and generalization of skills across environments.
  • Promote culturally sensitive and family-centered care practices.

Arabic Language and Cultural Competence

  • Apply specialized knowledge of Arabic phonetics, linguistics, and communication development.
  • Utilize culturally appropriate assessment and intervention strategies for Arabic-speaking patients.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Emirati dialects and language variations when assessing communication skills.
  • Coordinate with trained interpreters or translators when required to ensure effective service delivery.

Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, dietitians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and treatment planning meetings.
  • Contribute expert speech and language recommendations to optimize patient rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Maintain effective communication with healthcare providers regarding patient progress and care plans.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant patient records.
  • Prepare comprehensive assessment reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, and clinical correspondence.
  • Document treatment outcomes and monitor patient progress using validated outcome measures.
  • Communicate clinical findings and recommendations to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, clinical governance standards, and organizational policies.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns, developmental risks, neglect, or abuse according to established procedures.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards when working with pediatric and adult populations.
  • Ensure the safe use, maintenance, and management of clinical equipment and therapy resources.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.

Professional Development

  • Stay current with advances in speech-language pathology, dysphagia management, communication disorders, and rehabilitation practices.
  • Participate in continuing professional development programs, workshops, conferences, and clinical training.
  • Maintain all required professional competencies and certifications.
  • Renew job-specific competencies as required by DOH and organizational standards.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Speech Pathology, Communication Disorders, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology, Speech Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience as a Speech Therapist or Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Experience working with both pediatric and adult rehabilitation populations.
  • Experience managing patients with communication, feeding, swallowing, and neurological disorders.
  • Previous experience in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, or homecare settings preferred.

Licensure and Certification

  • Valid DOH (Department of Health Abu Dhabi) License or Eligibility Letter as a Speech Therapist.
  • Current professional registration in country of qualification.
