Clinical Pathologist to join a leading diagnostic laboratory in Dubai. Clinical Pathologist role for a medical professional who combines advanced diagnostic expertise with strong laboratory management capabilities and a passion for modernizing healthcare operations.
The successful candidate will serve as a Clinical Pathologist, providing clinical and operational leadership across multiple laboratory disciplines, including clinical pathology and anatomical pathology. The role requires overseeing daily laboratory activities, ensuring diagnostic excellence, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving innovation through digital transformation, automation, and advanced diagnostic technologies.
The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking pathology professional who can lead multidisciplinary teams, improve laboratory performance, and implement efficient workflows while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and diagnostic accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Leadership & Clinical Oversight
- Serve as Laboratory Director, providing strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across all laboratory departments.
- Oversee daily diagnostic laboratory operations, ensuring smooth workflow, accuracy, efficiency, and timely reporting.
- Review, interpret, validate, and authorize diagnostic reports while ensuring consistency and compliance with clinical standards.
- Provide expert consultation and guidance to physicians, hospitals, clinics, and healthcare professionals regarding laboratory findings.
- Ensure excellence in diagnostic services across clinical pathology, anatomical pathology, and related laboratory sections.
Team Management & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop laboratory technologists, technicians, pathologists, and support teams.
- Establish a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, competency assessment, and training programs for laboratory personnel.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and adoption of best practices in modern diagnostic medicine.
Quality Management & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain high standards of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) across laboratory operations.
- Ensure compliance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations and international laboratory accreditation requirements.
- Support implementation and maintenance of quality systems aligned with standards such as:
- CAP (College of American Pathologists)
- ISO 15189 Medical Laboratories Quality Management System
- Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
- Laboratory safety and biosafety guidelines
- Monitor internal audits, proficiency testing, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Digital Transformation & Laboratory Innovation
- Drive adoption of modern laboratory technologies, automation solutions, and digital healthcare platforms.
- Implement and optimize digital pathology systems, imaging platforms, laboratory automation, and data-driven diagnostic tools.
- Improve laboratory efficiency through technology-enabled workflows and process optimization.
- Manage and enhance Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) integration with electronic medical records and digital reporting platforms.
- Evaluate emerging diagnostic technologies and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy, speed, and patient outcomes.
Operational Excellence & Performance Improvement
- Monitor key laboratory performance indicators including:
- Turnaround time (TAT)
- Diagnostic accuracy
- Quality metrics
- Productivity and operational efficiency
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement innovative laboratory workflows.
- Ensure effective resource utilization, inventory management, and operational planning.
- Maintain strict compliance with infection control, biosafety, and laboratory safety procedures.
Qualifications – Clinical Pathologist
- MD / MBBS degree with postgraduate specialization in Pathology.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification such as:
- MD Pathology
- FRCPath
- FCAP
- American Board Certification in Pathology
- Equivalent internationally recognized pathology qualification
- Proven experience working in a diagnostic laboratory environment.
- Previous experience as a Laboratory Director, Consultant Pathologist, Senior Pathologist, or Laboratory Supervisor is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of clinical pathology, anatomical pathology, laboratory medicine, and diagnostic processes.
- Experience managing laboratory teams and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with:
- Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Digital pathology platforms
- Automated diagnostic technologies
- Healthcare data and reporting systems
- Strong analytical ability with an interest in using technology and data to improve laboratory performance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with advances in diagnostic medicine.
Licensing & Professional Credentials
- Valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license as a Consultant/Specialist Pathologist, or eligibility to obtain DHA licensure.
- Candidates undergoing:

- New DHA licensing process

- Recognized pathology board certification or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Certification or training in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), biosafety, and laboratory quality management will be an advantage.
