The successful Food Technologist will monitor warehouse operations, product inspections, inventory control, and third-party logistics compliance to ensure efficient stock handling and safe food distribution across the retail network.
This position requires strong coordination with warehouse teams, suppliers, and commercial departments to maintain high standards of product quality and operational efficiency in the FMCG retail supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection and Product Control
- Conduct routine quality checks on incoming and outgoing grocery products, with a strong focus on fresh meat and butchery items.
- Inspect product samples to verify freshness, quality, packaging condition, labeling accuracy, and shelf life.
- Ensure all products stored and distributed through the warehouse comply with company quality standards and food safety requirements.
- Monitor temperature control and proper storage conditions for perishable goods.
Warehouse Operations Monitoring
- Oversee warehouse practices to ensure proper handling, storage, and dispatching of products.
- Perform quality checks on ready-to-dispatch orders to confirm compliance with operational and quality standards.
- Monitor daily warehouse activities to maintain product integrity and operational efficiency.
Third-Party Logistics Compliance
- Ensure that third-party logistics providers and warehouse staff follow company policies and procedures for stock management, including inbound, storage, handling, and outbound activities.
- Review operational practices and recommend improvements where necessary to enhance quality control and warehouse efficiency.
Communication and Coordination
- Coordinate with the commercial and procurement teams regarding the quality of products received from suppliers.
- Maintain effective communication with warehouse teams to resolve quality-related issues and operational concerns.
Inventory Control and Reporting
- Conduct cycle counts and stock verification to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Monitor product condition and report damaged, expired, or non-compliant stock.
- Prepare quality reports, warehouse performance updates, and technical documentation for management review.
Issue Management and Continuous Improvement
- Identify potential quality risks within warehouse operations and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
- Escalate major quality or operational issues to Inventory Control management in a timely manner.
- Support training initiatives for warehouse staff to improve quality awareness and product handling practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Dubai Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Management, or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Food Technology jobs in Dubai FMCG retail, grocery distribution, or food supply chain operations.
- Practical experience in butchery or meat product quality control is essential.
- Familiarity with warehouse quality inspection processes and food safety standards.
