Medical Laboratory Technician to join a healthcare laboratory team in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tests, handling clinical samples, operating laboratory equipment, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the laboratory team in delivering reliable and timely diagnostic results.

The Medical Laboratory Technician will work in accordance with established laboratory procedures, quality standards, infection control requirements, and healthcare regulations. This position is suitable for professionals with at least 2 years of UAE healthcare laboratory experience and a strong understanding of clinical laboratory practices.

Key Responsibilities – MLT

  • Collect, receive, identify, label, prepare, and process clinical specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and examinations accurately and efficiently.
  • Handle blood, urine, tissue, and other biological specimens using appropriate laboratory techniques.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain laboratory instruments and diagnostic equipment.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents, solutions, media, and other materials required for testing.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for specimen handling, testing, analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
  • Identify and report abnormal, inconsistent, or critical test results according to laboratory protocols.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, worksheets, test results, and documentation.
  • Ensure correct patient and specimen identification throughout the testing process.
  • Maintain proper documentation in laboratory information systems (LIS) and other relevant healthcare systems.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures when handling clinical and biological specimens.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is clean, functional, calibrated, and maintained according to established schedules.
  • Assist with troubleshooting laboratory equipment and report technical problems to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Monitor laboratory supplies, reagents, consumables, and testing materials and report shortages when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory working environment.
  • Handle biological waste, sharps, chemicals, and other laboratory waste in accordance with healthcare safety requirements.
  • Participate in internal quality assurance and laboratory improvement activities.
  • Follow applicable DOH Abu Dhabi healthcare regulations, laboratory policies, and professional standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect sensitive medical and laboratory information.
  • Work collaboratively with medical laboratory technologists, pathologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in laboratory audits, inspections, competency assessments, and quality improvement programs when required.
  • Stay updated with laboratory procedures, diagnostic technologies, safety requirements, and relevant healthcare standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a UAE healthcare laboratory is required.
  • Previous experience working in a hospital, medical laboratory, diagnostic center, clinic, or healthcare facility is highly relevant.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures, specimen processing, and routine diagnostic testing.
  • Practical knowledge of laboratory equipment, instruments, reagents, and quality control procedures.
  • Good understanding of laboratory safety, infection control, and biological specimen handling.
  • Ability to accurately document and report laboratory test results.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when performing laboratory investigations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and compliance with laboratory procedures.

Licensing & Professional Requirements

  • DOH (Department of Health – Abu Dhabi) License is preferred.
  • Candidates who are eligible for DOH Abu Dhabi licensing may also be considered, depending on the employer’s requirements.
  • Candidates should be familiar with UAE healthcare regulations and professional licensing requirements.
  • Previous experience in a UAE-licensed healthcare facility is strongly preferred.

Experience working in Al Ain or Abu Dhabi healthcare facilities and familiarity with DOH licensing requirements will be an advantage.
