Key Responsibilities
The Laboratory Chemist will perform a wide range of analytical, experimental, and research-related tasks to support laboratory operations and product development initiatives.
Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Testing
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on organic and inorganic substances to determine their composition, properties, and potential industrial applications.
- Perform laboratory experiments to evaluate chemical reactions, stability, compatibility, and performance characteristics of materials and compounds.
- Utilize advanced analytical laboratory instruments such as spectrophotometers, chromatographic systems, and other laboratory equipment to generate accurate test results.
- Support laboratory investigations related to water chemistry, chemical formulations, and industrial chemical applications.
Research and Product Development
- Participate in research and development (R&D) projects aimed at improving existing chemical products, formulations, and production processes.
- Conduct experimental trials to replicate or enhance chemical substances used in industrial applications.
- Identify new potential uses for existing technical platforms, products, or chemical compounds to support innovation and business growth.
- Contribute to the development of advanced technologies, new chemical solutions, and improved laboratory methods.
Data Analysis and Technical Reporting
- Collect, interpret, and analyze laboratory data to support research conclusions and technical recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, laboratory documentation, and project summaries for internal review and project evaluation checkpoints.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and experimental records to ensure traceability, compliance, and knowledge sharing within the organization.
Method Development and Laboratory Procedures
- Develop, validate, and implement analytical testing methods, laboratory protocols, and experimental procedures.
- Select appropriate analytical techniques and testing methods to evaluate chemical products and raw materials.
- Ensure laboratory testing procedures meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Innovation and Intellectual Property
- Contribute to the development of innovative chemical applications, products, and process improvements that support the organization’s strategic goals.
- Assist in protecting research innovations through appropriate intellectual property mechanisms such as patents and proprietary documentation.
Collaboration and Technical Support
- Provide technical support to internal departments, including research teams, production units, and quality control departments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to solve complex technical challenges and improve laboratory performance.
- Participate in meetings and technical discussions to share insights, research findings, and recommendations.
Basic Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess strong scientific knowledge and hands-on laboratory experience in chemical analysis and research.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry (preferred). Degrees in related disciplines such as Biochemistry or Biology may be considered depending on relevant laboratory experience.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in chemical laboratories, industrial chemical production, or analytical testing environments.
- Experience working in chemical blending or formulation industries is highly desirable.
- Alternatively, experience working in third-party analytical laboratories or testing facilities is also acceptable.
- Strong working knowledge of analytical laboratory instrumentation.
- Expertise in physical analysis, spectrophotometric analysis, quantitative analysis, and qualitative analysis.
- Familiarity with chromatographic techniques such as GC or HPLC is an advantage.
- Prior experience working in GMP-compliant laboratory environments is preferred.
