About the Role
The Medical Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the overall management of laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow, compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and implementation of best laboratory practices. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining high-quality diagnostic services while ensuring operational excellence and patient safety.
This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory quality management systems, UAE healthcare regulations, laboratory accreditation requirements, and team leadership.
Job Responsibilities – MLT
Laboratory Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day clinical laboratory operations.
- Ensure smooth functioning of all laboratory departments and testing processes.
- Monitor laboratory productivity, efficiency, and turnaround times.
- Coordinate workflow and resource allocation to meet operational requirements.
- Develop and implement laboratory policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Quality Management and Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with DHA regulations, healthcare standards, and laboratory licensing requirements.
- Maintain laboratory quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor quality control procedures and proficiency testing programs.
- Conduct internal audits and corrective action plans.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, CAP requirements, and accreditation guidelines where applicable.
Accreditation and Documentation
- Manage laboratory accreditation processes and inspections.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and regulatory reports.
- Ensure all laboratory procedures are properly documented and updated.
- Prepare the laboratory for external audits and regulatory reviews.
- Monitor compliance with quality assurance and quality control programs.
Team Leadership and Staff Management
- Lead, mentor, and supervise laboratory personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and staff development programs.
- Coordinate staff scheduling and workforce planning.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Support employee training and competency assessment programs.
Health, Safety, and Risk Management
- Ensure laboratory compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor biosafety, infection control, and risk management procedures.
- Investigate incidents, non-conformities, and quality concerns.
- Implement preventive and corrective actions to minimize operational risks.
- Promote a safe working environment for all laboratory personnel.
Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve laboratory performance and efficiency.
- Participate in budgeting, resource planning, and procurement activities.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and laboratory systems.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality objectives.
- Contribute to organizational growth and healthcare excellence initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Pathology, or a related healthcare discipline.
- Professional laboratory certifications will be an advantage.
- DHA eligibility or DHA license preferred.
- Additional qualifications in healthcare quality management or laboratory management are highly desirable.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of UAE experience in a medical laboratory environment.
- Proven experience in laboratory operations management.
- Strong background in laboratory quality assurance and quality control.
- Experience managing laboratory accreditation and compliance programs.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a clinical laboratory setting.
