Children’s Occupational Therapist (Pediatric Occupational Therapist) to join a multidisciplinary healthcare team in Dubai. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents develop the physical, sensory, cognitive, emotional, and social skills required for independent daily living and academic success.
As a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, you will assess children with developmental delays, neurological disorders, learning disabilities, sensory processing challenges, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, cerebral palsy, and other pediatric conditions. You will design personalized therapy programs that improve fine motor skills, sensory integration, self-care abilities, handwriting, coordination, and overall functional independence.
This role requires close collaboration with pediatricians, speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, educators, and families to ensure the best therapeutic outcomes for every child.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for infants, children, and adolescents using standardized evaluation tools.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on each child’s developmental needs, medical history, and functional goals.
- Assess fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, sensory processing, visual perception, cognitive abilities, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Design and implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to improve functional independence.
- Provide therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, sensory processing disorders, learning disabilities, and neurological conditions.
- Deliver sensory integration therapy to improve sensory regulation, attention, balance, and motor planning.
- Support children in developing handwriting skills, bilateral coordination, visual-motor integration, and classroom readiness.
- Train children in self-care activities including dressing, feeding, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and environmental modifications when appropriate.
- Monitor patient progress through regular reassessments and update treatment goals accordingly.
- Educate parents, caregivers, and family members on home exercise programs and therapeutic strategies to reinforce progress outside the clinic.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, physiotherapists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, behavioral therapists, teachers, and special educators to provide coordinated care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning meetings.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation, therapy notes, assessment reports, progress records, and discharge summaries in accordance with DHA regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) standards, infection control policies, patient confidentiality, and professional ethics.
- Provide guidance to schools and educators regarding classroom accommodations and developmental support strategies.
- Stay updated with the latest pediatric occupational therapy techniques, clinical guidelines, and continuing professional development requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
- Active DHA License as an Occupational Therapist or eligibility to obtain DHA licensing.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist or Children’s Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working with children with developmental, neurological, behavioral, or sensory disorders.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric developmental milestones and evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
- Familiarity with sensory integration therapy, fine motor development, ADL training, and pediatric rehabilitation techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observational, assessment, documentation, and clinical reasoning abilities.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
