Seeking a Occupational Therapist to join a leading medical clinic in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to patients experiencing physical, cognitive, developmental, neurological, or functional limitations. Working closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Occupational Therapist will design and implement individualized rehabilitation programs that promote independence, improve quality of life, and support successful return-to-work and daily living activities.
This role requires expertise in injury management, functional rehabilitation, workplace assessments, and patient education while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment and Rehabilitation
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to assess patients’ physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and functional abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, medical history, and rehabilitation goals.
- Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to improve functional independence and quality of life.
- Provide injury management and rehabilitation programs for patients recovering from illness, injury, surgery, or disability.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, physiotherapists, nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Functional and Workplace Assessments
- Perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assessments to evaluate patients’ ability to independently perform self-care tasks.
- Conduct functional capacity evaluations to determine physical and cognitive work capabilities.
- Assess workplace environments and provide ergonomic recommendations to reduce injury risks and improve employee wellbeing.
- Perform risk assessments and recommend adaptive equipment, workplace modifications, or assistive devices when required.
- Support return-to-work programs by evaluating employee readiness and functional performance.
Patient and Family Education
- Educate patients, caregivers, and family members on treatment plans, therapeutic exercises, and adaptive strategies.
- Provide guidance on occupational health and safety practices to promote injury prevention and wellbeing.
- Train patients in the use of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and compensatory techniques.
- Promote patient independence through education on energy conservation, mobility, and self-management techniques.
Documentation and Administration
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely patient records in accordance with clinic policies and DOH regulations.
- Prepare clinical reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, and assessment documentation.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and case discussions.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare standards, patient confidentiality requirements, and professional ethics.
- Assist with administrative tasks necessary for the effective operation of the Occupational Therapy Department.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy is an advantage.
- Valid Department of Health (DOH) License or DOH Eligibility Letter as an Occupational Therapist.
- Current professional registration in home country and eligibility to practice in the UAE.
- Certification in rehabilitation, ergonomics, neurological rehabilitation, or hand therapy is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2–5 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist in a hospital, rehabilitation center, or medical clinic.
- Experience in injury management, functional rehabilitation, workplace assessments, and return-to-work programs.
- Strong background in treating orthopedic, neurological, musculoskeletal, and occupational health cases.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
