HSE Engineer – Hiring an experienced HSE Engineer in Oman to support its prestigious NAMA Water Services (NWS) water and wastewater project. This role is ideal for a qualified Health, Safety, and Environment professional with extensive experience in infrastructure, water treatment, and wastewater projects within the GCC region.

Job Description – HSE Engineer (Oman)

The HSE Engineer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems to ensure compliance with Oman HSE regulations, NAMA Water Services standards, and international safety best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and site safety plans for water and wastewater construction projects.
  • Ensure full compliance with Oman labour laws, NAMA Water Services HSE requirements, and international HSE standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for site activities.
  • Perform regular site inspections, safety audits, and HSE compliance checks.
  • Lead and document incident investigations, near-miss reporting, and corrective action plans.
  • Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety trainings, and awareness programs to employees and subcontractors.
  • Monitor PPE usage, safe work practices, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Maintain accurate HSE documentation, reports, registers, and statutory records.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to strengthen the safety culture on-site.
  • Support emergency response planning, mock drills, and environmental protection initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental management practices, including waste management and pollution prevention.

Selection Criteria / Requirements

  • Education: Diploma in Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science from a recognized university.
  • Certification: NEBOSH IGC (IGC 3 mandatory) – required for HSE Engineer roles in Oman and GCC.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar HSE Engineer / HSE Officer role, preferably in water, wastewater, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Industry Experience: Strong background in water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, and utility projects is highly preferred.
  • License: Oman or GCC driving license is an added advantage.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of HSE management systems
    • Strong understanding of Oman HSE regulations and GCC safety standards
    • Excellent reporting, communication, and coordination skills
