A hospitality organization in Dubai is looking for a responsible and service-oriented Food Safety Officer to help maintain a safe, secure, and professional environment for guests, employees, and hotel operations.

The role requires regular property inspections, identification of potential hazards, emergency response, incident reporting, access control, monitoring of security systems, and close coordination with hotel management and employees. The successful candidate should be observant, physically fit, calm under pressure, and capable of handling safety-related incidents professionally.

Key Responsibilities

Hotel Safety & Risk Management

  • Conduct regular patrols and safety checks throughout the hotel property.
  • Inspect guest areas, operational areas, equipment, tools, and facilities for potential hazards.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective or preventive action.
  • Monitor compliance with established hotel safety policies and operating procedures.
  • Report accidents, injuries, hazards, equipment defects, and unsafe working conditions to management.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for guests, employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Participate in scheduled emergency preparedness and safety drills.
  • Support management in implementing effective risk-control measures.

Emergency & Incident Response

  • Respond quickly to medical emergencies, accidents, alarms, disturbances, and other safety incidents.
  • Assist guests and employees during emergency situations.
  • Contact emergency medical services and other relevant authorities when necessary.
  • Provide first aid or CPR where trained and authorized.
  • Follow established emergency communication and response codes.
  • Conduct initial investigations into accidents and incidents.
  • Interview relevant individuals and collect information needed for investigations.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports and maintain appropriate documentation.

Security & Access Monitoring

  • Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and other security equipment.
  • Control and document access to restricted, confidential, and secured areas.
  • Perform regular key-control checks and maintain appropriate records.
  • Assist guests with room access when required.
  • Monitor unauthorized access and respond to potential security concerns.
  • Escort unauthorized or unwelcome individuals from the property in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of security reports, investigations, and sensitive hotel information.
  • Provide confidential information only to authorized personnel.

Guest Service & Complaint Handling

  • Maintain a professional and welcoming approach when interacting with hotel guests.
  • Respond promptly to guest safety concerns, complaints, and requests.
  • Assist guests during emergencies and unexpected situations.
  • Handle disturbances professionally and follow established hotel procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and courteously with guests, employees, and management.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide appropriate assistance when required.
  • Maintain positive relationships with employees across different hotel departments.

Food, Beverage & Hospitality Safety

  • Support the hotel’s health, safety, quality, and compliance programs.
  • Promote safe working practices throughout food and beverage and other operational areas.
  • Monitor potential workplace hazards in areas where food and beverages are prepared or served.
  • Support compliance with applicable food safety, hygiene, health, and hospitality requirements.
  • Ensure employees follow established hygiene and safety procedures.
  • Support compliance with applicable alcoholic beverage control requirements and internal hotel policies.
  • Report safety and hygiene concerns to the appropriate supervisor or manager.

Reports & Documentation

  • Complete safety, accident, incident, inspection, and investigation reports accurately.
  • Maintain organized records relating to safety inspections, incidents, access control, and investigations.
  • Ensure confidential documentation is properly handled and protected.
  • Prepare and review written documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Use computers and hotel systems to enter, retrieve, and update work-related information.
  • Complete required employee paperwork and other administrative documentation.

Employee Training & Teamwork

  • Assist supervisors and management with safety-related employee training.
  • Support employee coaching and awareness programs.
  • Encourage employees to follow hotel safety procedures and operational standards.
  • Act as a professional role model for other team members.
  • Support the hotel’s fair-treatment and open-door policies.
  • Work collaboratively with security, housekeeping, engineering, food and beverage, front office, and other hotel departments.
  • Listen to employee concerns and communicate relevant issues to management.
  • Contribute to achieving the hotel’s safety, quality, and service objectives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have:

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience in hotel safety, hospitality operations, security, food safety, workplace safety, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Strong observation and hazard-identification skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies.
  • Good incident investigation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to deal professionally with guests and employees.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Physical Requirements

The role involves active movement around the hotel property and may require the employee to:

  • Walk, stand, sit, or remain active for extended periods.
  • Move quickly when responding to emergencies.
  • Navigate stairs, service ramps, uneven or slippery surfaces, and confined areas.
  • Bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead or below the knees.
  • Inspect equipment and workplace areas visually.
  • Handle and manipulate objects of different sizes and weights.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull objects within the requirements of the role.
  • Work extended shifts, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules according to hotel operational requirements.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education:
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent qualification preferred.

Relevant Experience:
Minimum 2 years of related professional experience preferred.

Supervisory Experience:
At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
