Job Responsibilities – Food Quality Controller (Fresh Produce & Food Operations)
- Conduct comprehensive quality control inspections on fresh fruits, vegetables, farm produce, and exotic produce at all operational stages including receiving, storage, processing, packing, and dispatch
- Evaluate food products for freshness, sensory quality, appearance, ripeness, maturity, size, color, texture, and shelf life in line with company quality standards
- Ensure strict compliance with food safety management systems, including HACCP, GMP, GHP, and UAE food safety regulations
- Monitor hygiene and sanitation practices across warehouses, cold stores, packing areas, and handling zones
- Verify temperature control and cold chain management for perishable food products to prevent contamination and spoilage
- Identify, segregate, and document non-conforming food products, including damaged, spoiled, or contaminated items
- Maintain accurate quality control documentation, such as inspection reports, temperature logs, hygiene checklists, and corrective action records
- Support traceability systems for food and farm produce, including batch coding, supplier information, country of origin, and expiry details
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, logistics, and operations teams to resolve food quality and safety issues
- Assist in handling customer complaints, quality deviations, and product rejections, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Participate in internal audits, food safety inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure proper storage, handling, labeling, and transportation of food products in line with regulatory and company requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements – Food Quality Controller
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, Biotechnology, or a related discipline
- 1–3 years of experience in food quality control, quality assurance, or food inspection (experience in fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, or FMCG food preferred)
- Sound knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GHP, and food safety management systems
- Familiarity with UAE food safety regulations, Dubai Municipality guidelines, and best practices for food handling
- HACCP or Food Safety certification is a strong advantage
- Experience in fresh fruits and vegetables, farm produce, cold storage, or food distribution environments preferred
- Strong attention to detail, observational skills, and documentation accuracy
- Good communication and coordination skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings or night shifts if required
- Ability to work in fast-paced food production or warehouse environments
