Medical Laboratory Technologist to join a reputed diagnostic laboratory / healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing accurate laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, and supporting clinicians with reliable diagnostic data. This role is critical in maintaining high standards of clinical laboratory services, patient safety, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized medical laboratory tests in areas such as:
- Clinical Chemistry
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Immunology
- Histopathology / Histology
- Molecular Diagnostics (PCR, ELISA, etc.)
- Collect, label, prepare, and analyze patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, and other biological specimens) following standard procedures
- Ensure accurate data entry, validation, and reporting of test results using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Maintain strict adherence to DOH Abu Dhabi, MOH, CAP, ISO, GLP, and CGMP standards
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in laboratory testing
- Follow infection control, biosafety, and waste management protocols
- Participate in quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs
- Maintain detailed laboratory records, documentation, and audit-ready reports
- Assist pathologists, physicians, and healthcare professionals with diagnostic support
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections
- Stay updated with advancements in medical laboratory technology and diagnostics
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Sciences
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in:
- Biomedical Sciences
- Microbiology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Molecular Biology
- Mandatory DOH (Department of Health Abu Dhabi) License / Eligibility
- Diploma holders may be considered only with strong UAE clinical lab experience and valid licensing (as per DOH guidelines)
Experience Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory (UAE experience preferred)
- Hands-on experience with automated analyzers and diagnostic equipment
- Familiarity with hospital or diagnostic lab workflows
- Experience working in regulated healthcare environments
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures and testing methodologies
- Proficiency in laboratory safety, biosafety, and infection control
- Excellent analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting results
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills and experience with LIMS / HIS systems
Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)
- Experience in molecular diagnostics or histopathology
- Knowledge of CAP, ISO 15189, and international lab accreditation standards
- Experience in hospitals, diagnostic centers, or reference laboratories in the UAE
