School Science Lab Technician

School Science Lab Technician wanted an IB School in Dubai to support the effective delivery of science education within a leading school in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing laboratory equipment and materials, maintaining a safe and organised laboratory environment, and assisting teachers and students during practical science lessons.

This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent organizational abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of laboratory safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Preparation and Support

• Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens, and materials for science experiments and practical lessons.
• Assist science teachers in setting up and dismantling laboratory activities.
• Ensure all laboratory resources are available and ready before scheduled classes.
• Provide technical support during practical demonstrations and experiments.
• Assist students and teachers with the safe use of laboratory equipment and materials.

Laboratory Maintenance

• Maintain laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Conduct regular inspections of laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Arrange repairs, servicing, and calibration of laboratory instruments when required.
• Monitor laboratory inventories and maintain accurate stock records.
• Order and replenish laboratory supplies, chemicals, and consumables as needed.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with school health and safety policies, laboratory regulations, and UAE educational standards.
• Safely store, label, and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and maintain safety documentation.
• Ensure safety equipment such as eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency procedures are properly maintained.
• Promote safe laboratory practices among students and staff.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory records, equipment inventories, and chemical registers.
• Assist in preparing laboratory budgets and procurement requests.
• Support science department activities, projects, exhibitions, and school events.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance schedules and safety inspections.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent higher education qualification in Science, Laboratory Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
• Laboratory Technician certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of Accademic classroom or school laboratory experience in Dubai.
• Experience supporting science laboratories within an educational environment.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling practices.
