Medical Transcriptionist to join a leading Healthcare and hospital team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately transcribing physicians’ dictations into comprehensive medical reports while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, patient confidentiality, and international healthcare quality standards. The role requires excellent English language skills, medical terminology knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe physicians’ audio dictations into accurate medical reports, including patient histories, consultation notes, discharge summaries, operative reports, referral letters, radiology reports, pathology reports, and other clinical documentation.
- Interpret medical terminology, abbreviations, and clinical procedures accurately while maintaining the highest documentation standards.
- Proofread and edit all reports to ensure accuracy in grammar, punctuation, spelling, formatting, and medical terminology before submission.
- Meet departmental productivity and turnaround time targets while maintaining high-quality transcription standards.
- Upload completed reports and medical documents into the Hospital Information System (HIS) accurately and promptly.
- Learn and efficiently operate hospital transcription software, speech recognition tools, dictation systems, and electronic medical record (EMR/HIS) platforms.
- Follow physicians’ preferred report formats and departmental documentation guidelines.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records in accordance with hospital policies and healthcare privacy regulations.
- Understand and accurately transcribe various accents, speech patterns, and dictation styles from multiple medical specialists.
- Coordinate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify unclear dictations whenever necessary.
- Ensure all documentation complies with hospital quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance audits and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Attend departmental meetings, mandatory training sessions, and educational programs.
- Support accreditation compliance with DOH, JCI, ISO, OSH, and other applicable healthcare regulations.
- Maintain organized digital records and ensure timely completion of assigned transcription tasks.
- Demonstrate professionalism while working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Job Qualifiations
- Excellent English listening, writing, grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, laboratory investigations, and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency in medical transcription software, Microsoft Word, and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
- Excellent typing speed with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Medical Transcriptionist – Candidate Profile
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Medical Transcription, or any related discipline.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Medical Transcriptionist in a hospital or healthcare facility.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology across multiple specialties.
- Ability to accurately transcribe medical audio files with near 100% accuracy.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
- Experience working in accredited hospitals is preferred.
- Knowledge of DOH, JCI, ISO, OSH, and healthcare quality standards is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

- Office-based hospital environment with minimal distractions.
- Sedentary work involving prolonged computer usage.
