Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs to join a advanced Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Laboratory in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The successful candidates will play a critical role in supporting genetic diagnostic services, fertility treatments, and patient care through accurate laboratory testing and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Testing
- Perform specialized laboratory testing including:
- Karyotyping
- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
- Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH)
- Karyomapping
- DNA Extraction and Purification
- Molecular Genetic Analysis
- Chromosomal and Genetic Screening Procedures
- Analyze laboratory specimens and ensure accurate interpretation of test results.
- Process patient samples according to established laboratory protocols and quality standards.
- Maintain precision and accuracy throughout all testing procedures.
Laboratory Operations
- Support the daily operations of the Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Laboratory.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate laboratory workflows with IVF specialists, clinicians, embryologists, and healthcare teams.
- Assist the Laboratory Manager in achieving departmental goals and maintaining operational efficiency.
- Monitor laboratory inventory levels and ensure the availability of testing materials and reagents.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Participate in laboratory quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) programs.
- Maintain comprehensive records of quality control activities and testing performance.
- Monitor laboratory turnaround times and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, DOH regulations, and laboratory best practices.
- Participate in internal audits, inspections, and corrective action programs.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, worksheets, and patient testing documentation.
- Ensure proper specimen tracking, result verification, and reporting procedures.
- Document laboratory findings clearly and accurately in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Support the development, review, and revision of laboratory policies and procedures.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Monitor laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform routine equipment checks, calibration verification, and maintenance activities.
- Report recurring equipment malfunctions and technical issues promptly.
- Coordinate with service providers for equipment maintenance when required.
Clinical Support and Collaboration
- Collaborate with physicians, genetic counselors, embryologists, and IVF teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinical discussions when required.
- Provide technical support for genetic counseling services and patient care initiatives.
Research and Continuous Improvement
- Participate in research projects related to genetics, reproductive medicine, and molecular diagnostics.
- Support continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.
- Contribute to laboratory development programs and process optimization projects.
- Assist in staff training, competency assessments, and knowledge-sharing activities.
Patient Confidentiality and Compliance
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and data protection standards.
- Adhere to all ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements governing laboratory practice.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations and laboratory accreditation standards.
- Participate in weekend shifts, emergency coverage, and on-call duties as required.
Health, Safety, and Quality Responsibilities
- Follow Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) policies and procedures.
- Adhere to laboratory biosafety and infection control protocols.
- Report workplace hazards, incidents, and non-conformities immediately.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized and accredited institution (minimum 2-year program); OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Biotechnology
- Molecular Biology
- Genetics
- Biomedical Sciences
- Related Life Science Discipline meeting DOH licensing requirements.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Proven experience in Cytogenetics Laboratory Testing and/or Molecular Genetics Laboratory Testing is mandatory.
- Experience in fertility, IVF, reproductive genetics, or diagnostic laboratory environments is highly preferred.
- Must meet Department of Health (DOH) licensing and eligibility requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, and Molecular Diagnostic Techniques.
- Hands-on experience with PCR, DNA extraction, CGH, karyotyping, and genetic testing platforms.
- Understanding of laboratory quality management systems, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
