Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity by cross-checking requisition forms and identification details before sample collection.
- Clearly explain blood collection and sample procedures to patients or guardians before performing venipuncture.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary (skin puncture) procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Demonstrate knowledge of vacutainer tube types, color coding, and required sample volumes for different laboratory tests.
- Collect and handle samples including blood, bleeding time tests, blood cultures, and other diagnostic specimens.
- Ensure proper preparation, labeling, storage, and transfer of samples to the laboratory system.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the blood collection area at all times.
- Stock and manage laboratory consumables, ensuring timely replenishment of supplies.
- Clean and sterilize trays, instruments, and collection tools according to infection control standards.
- Assist laboratory technologists in daily operational and clerical tasks, including filing and data entry.
- Handle patient queries and support sample receiving, dispatch, and referral lab coordination.
- Report any incidents, complications, or hazardous situations to the laboratory supervisor immediately.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation in laboratory information systems (HIS/LIS).
Job Qualifications
- Associate Degree / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in phlebotomy or clinical laboratory work
- Valid professional license in home country.
- DHA license (mandatory or eligibility to obtain it in Dubai, UAE)
- Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques and laboratory safety protocols
- Good communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage but not mandatory)
- Ability to work in shifts and handle high patient volumes efficiently
