Biotechnologist

Biotechnologist to join a dynamic genomics and molecular diagnostics laboratory in Abu Dhabi. This role focuses on executing advanced laboratory procedures, supporting genetic research, and ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance in all testing processes.

Biotechnologist Responsibilities

Laboratory Testing & Molecular Analysis

• Conduct routine and specialized laboratory procedures including DNA/RNA extraction, purification, and quantification.
• Prepare and run PCR, qPCR, and RT-qPCR assays, ensuring accurate amplification and detection of genetic material.
• Perform gel electrophoresis and assist in sequencing workflows and genetic analysis.
• Support implementation of advanced genomic technologies such as next-generation sequencing (NGS).

Sample Processing & Handling

• Accurately receive, label, verify, and process biological specimens following strict chain-of-custody and biosafety protocols.
• Ensure proper storage and management of samples, including DNA repositories and tracking systems.

Equipment Management

• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments such as thermal cyclers, centrifuges, microscopes, and genetic analyzers.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance to minimize downtime.

Quality Control & Compliance

• Perform routine quality control (QC) checks and validate test procedures to maintain data accuracy and reproducibility.
• Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and ISO standards.
• Maintain compliance with UAE laboratory regulations and biosafety guidelines.

Data Recording & Analysis

• Document laboratory findings, maintain detailed records, and update Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Analyze and interpret laboratory and genetic data, ensuring proper reporting and traceability.

Inventory & Reagent Preparation

• Prepare laboratory reagents, buffers, and media required for molecular biology applications.
• Monitor inventory levels, manage laboratory consumables, and coordinate procurement activities.

Research & Laboratory Support

• Assist in research initiatives, validation studies, and method development in genomics and biotechnology.
• Collaborate with scientists and senior team members to optimize laboratory workflows and introduce innovative techniques.

Qualifications – Biotechnologist Abu Dhabi

• Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Evolutionary Biology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of professional laboratory experience, preferably in genomics, molecular diagnostics, or biotech labs.
• Strong technical expertise in:
  • DNA/RNA extraction and purification
  • PCR, qPCR, and RT-qPCR techniques
  • Gel electrophoresis and nucleic acid analysis
• Experience in reagent preparation, buffer formulation, and laboratory media preparation.
• Familiarity with LIMS systems, sample tracking, and DNA storage management.
• Knowledge of biosafety standards, laboratory compliance, and quality assurance protocols.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple laboratory tasks efficiently.
• Strong communication skills with fluency in English (written and verbal).
