Food Technologist -Research and Development (R&D) Officer for a food manufacturing operations in Sharjah, UAE. This is an excellent opportunity for food technology professionals who are passionate about food innovation, product development, recipe formulation, and continuous improvement of food products.

The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in Food Technology and at least 2 years of experience as an R&D Officer in the food manufacturing industry.

Position Details

The Research and Development (R&D) Officer will be responsible for developing innovative food products, improving existing formulations, and supporting the company’s growth through continuous product innovation. The role involves conducting food research, developing recipes, optimizing production processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Production, and Marketing.

The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing product quality, taste, texture, shelf life, consistency, and overall consumer satisfaction while ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Product Research and Innovation

  • Conduct research on new food product concepts and market trends.
  • Identify opportunities for product innovation and improvement.
  • Develop and test new recipes, formulations, and ingredients.
  • Evaluate emerging food technologies and ingredients for product development.

Product Development

  • Design and formulate new food products from concept to commercialization.
  • Develop product prototypes and conduct laboratory trials.
  • Optimize formulations to achieve desired taste, texture, appearance, and nutritional value.
  • Scale up laboratory-developed products to commercial production levels.

Process Improvement

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements.
  • Improve product consistency and production efficiency.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure successful implementation of new products.
  • Troubleshoot formulation and processing issues during manufacturing.

Quality and Shelf-Life Enhancement

  • Conduct shelf-life studies and product stability testing.
  • Improve product quality, flavor, texture, and sensory attributes.
  • Ensure products meet internal quality specifications and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control teams to maintain product standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Production, Procurement, and Marketing departments.
  • Support product launches and commercialization activities.
  • Participate in sensory evaluations and consumer testing programs.
  • Provide technical support to various departments when required.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of product development activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and formulation documents.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP, GMP, and relevant industry standards.
  • Update product documentation and development records regularly.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Master’s Degree (MSc) in Food Technology, Food Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an R&D Officer, Product Development Executive, or Food Technologist in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of food formulation, ingredient functionality, and processing technologies.
  • Knowledge of food safety systems including HACCP, GMP, and quality management practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
