Molecular Biology and Genomics Centre in Dubai is seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to join its laboratory team. This is a full-time opportunity for a UAE National with relevant experience in clinical laboratory testing, molecular diagnostics, biomedical science, or laboratory research.
The successful candidate will support routine laboratory operations, sample processing, molecular biology procedures, quality control, documentation, and laboratory projects while ensuring compliance with established SOPs, biosafety requirements, and laboratory quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine clinical and laboratory testing in accordance with approved laboratory procedures and SOPs.
- Receive, identify, label, process, and handle clinical and biological samples while maintaining sample integrity and traceability.
- Carry out laboratory sample preparation and processing for diagnostic, molecular, and research-related activities.
- Perform molecular biology procedures and laboratory techniques as required.
- Operate laboratory instruments and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct routine equipment checks, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting according to established procedures.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test results, worksheets, logs, and quality-control documentation.
- Follow laboratory quality management systems, biosafety procedures, infection-control requirements, and applicable accreditation standards.
- Participate in quality-control activities and monitor test performance to ensure reliable and accurate laboratory results.
- Support the validation, verification, implementation, and improvement of laboratory methods and procedures.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and laboratory materials according to approved procedures.
- Monitor laboratory reagents, consumables, and supplies and report inventory requirements to the responsible supervisor.
- Identify and report equipment problems, technical issues, deviations, and non-conformities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory working environment.
- Follow appropriate procedures for biological waste disposal and laboratory safety.
- Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of patient and laboratory information.
- Collaborate with laboratory scientists, technologists, researchers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Support laboratory projects and other technical activities assigned by the laboratory supervisor.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain awareness of current laboratory practices and safety requirements.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Valid DHA license or DHA eligibility for the relevant Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician category.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Experience in a clinical, diagnostic, molecular biology, biomedical, or research laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of laboratory sample handling, processing, testing, and documentation procedures.
- Understanding of laboratory quality-control and quality-assurance principles.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety, biosafety, SOPs, and good laboratory practices.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment and follow established technical procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory testing and documentation.
- Good communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a multidisciplinary laboratory team.
