Job Responsibilities

Pediatric Occupational Therapy Assessment and Treatment

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children to identify developmental, physical, sensory, motor, and functional challenges that may affect their participation in daily activities.
  • Evaluate children’s functional abilities, including fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, sensory processing, self-care, and age-appropriate activities of daily living.
  • Identify individual therapy needs and develop personalized treatment plans based on clinical assessments, developmental goals, and the child’s functional requirements.
  • Design and implement individualized occupational therapy intervention programs to support children’s development, rehabilitation, independence, and participation in everyday activities.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate physical rehabilitation and occupational therapy programs to help children improve functional abilities and regain or develop relevant skills.
  • Apply evidence-based occupational therapy techniques in accordance with professional standards, clinical guidelines, and the child’s individualized care plan.

Sensory Integration and Functional Development

  • Apply knowledge of sensory integration principles when assessing and supporting children with sensory processing challenges.
  • Plan therapeutic activities that promote fine motor development, coordination, balance, motor planning, sensory regulation, and functional participation.
  • Recommend appropriate adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and therapeutic strategies to help children perform daily activities with greater independence.
  • Assess the child’s home and other relevant environments to identify functional barriers and recommend suitable adaptations or support strategies.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to establish realistic therapy goals and support continuity of care beyond the clinical setting.
  • Monitor children’s responses to treatment and adjust intervention programs according to their progress, clinical needs, and functional outcomes.

Patient Progress Monitoring and Clinical Documentation

  • Regularly evaluate patient progress through clinical observations, reassessments, and appropriate outcome measures.
  • Review and modify treatment plans when necessary to ensure that therapy interventions remain relevant and aligned with patient goals.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation, assessment reports, progress reports, treatment records, and other required professional documentation.
  • Maintain complete patient records and ensure that reports are prepared in accordance with occupational therapy service policies and applicable professional guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding patient progress, therapy goals, treatment recommendations, and ongoing care requirements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary discussions and contribute relevant clinical observations to support coordinated patient care.

Clinical Operations, Safety, and Professional Development

  • Maintain sufficient inventory of occupational therapy materials, therapeutic resources, and equipment required for the effective delivery of clinical services.
  • Follow established procedures for the management, maintenance, and appropriate use of therapy equipment and supplies.
  • Comply with applicable health, safety, infection prevention, quality control, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge and professional skills through continuous professional development, relevant training, and evidence-based learning.
  • Fulfill applicable continuing professional development (CPD) or continuing medical education (CME) requirements, including those relevant to professional licensing and renewal.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality occupational therapy services within a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical environment.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized educational institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of pediatric occupational therapy experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) license or DHA eligibility for occupational therapy practice.
  • Practical experience in pediatric assessment, individualized treatment planning, and patient progress monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, pediatric rehabilitation, and child development.
  • Familiarity with sensory integration approaches and their application in pediatric occupational therapy.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing clinical assessments, progress reports, and patient treatment documentation.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with children, parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and contribute to a supportive, patient-centered clinical environment.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, professional ethics, continuous learning, and high standards of patient care.
