Clinical Assistant Quality Officer wanted in Healthcare in Abu Dhabi, UAE to support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of quality, patient safety, compliance, accreditation, and risk management initiatives within Corniche Hospital and the wider SEHA healthcare environment. The role will work closely with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure compliance with applicable healthcare standards, regulatory requirements, accreditation frameworks, and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management & Continuous Improvement
- Support the development, implementation, review, and monitoring of quality management systems, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, patient safety, service quality, and organizational performance.
- Analyze quality data, performance indicators, audit findings, and survey results to identify trends, gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of corrective and preventive action plans and monitor their effectiveness.
- Assist the CQI team in monitoring quality targets, key performance indicators, and improvement plans.
- Facilitate discussions and workgroups to identify and share best practices across departments and healthcare facilities.
Accreditation, Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
- Work collaboratively with clinical and support departments to maintain continuous compliance with applicable accreditation and certification requirements.
- Support the organization in preparing for internal and external accreditation surveys, regulatory inspections, audits, and onsite assessments.
- Participate in onsite survey activities and coordinate with relevant departments to address survey requirements and findings.
- Identify improvement opportunities arising from accreditation surveys, audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
- Ensure that policies, procedures, systems, and documentation are maintained in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Monitor changes in applicable healthcare regulations, standards, guidelines, and accreditation requirements and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
Policy & Process Management
- Support the redesign and improvement of policy management processes across SEHA Corporate and healthcare regions.
- Assist in establishing appropriate structures, workflows, responsibilities, and governance mechanisms for effective policy implementation.
- Support the identification and standardization of critical policies and processes across the organization.
- Assist in developing criteria for identifying critical processes and ensure effective staff awareness and communication.
- Introduce or recommend new systems, policies, procedures, and process improvements where required.
Patient Safety & Safety Culture
- Support the implementation of the SEHA-wide safety culture framework and related initiatives.
- Assist in communicating safety culture programs and activities to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in conducting organization-wide or regional safety culture surveys.
- Analyze survey findings and support the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Promote patient safety principles and a culture of continuous learning, reporting, risk reduction, and quality improvement.
- Support quality and patient safety educational initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives.
Risk Management
- Conduct or support risk assessments of clinical, operational, and administrative processes and activities.
- Identify potential risks, control gaps, and opportunities for risk mitigation.
- Support departments in developing and implementing appropriate risk reduction and corrective action measures.
- Escalate significant quality, safety, compliance, and operational concerns to the CQI Manager in a timely manner.
Training & Staff Development
- Support the development and delivery of quality, patient safety, compliance, and accreditation-related education programs.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions for staff on policies, procedures, quality requirements, and patient safety initiatives as required.
- Promote staff awareness of critical policies, processes, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
Stakeholder & Committee Coordination
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clinical, administrative, and support departments and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with departments, customers, suppliers, service providers, and relevant stakeholders to support quality and compliance objectives.
- Support the CQI team in coordinating regular committees, meetings, taskforces, and quality improvement workgroups.
- Attend relevant SEHA and regional meetings and communicate organizational requirements, decisions, and action items to appropriate stakeholders.
- Follow up on assigned actions and ensure timely completion and escalation of outstanding issues.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare quality reports, presentations, dashboards, audit summaries, survey reports, and other relevant documentation.
- Support the preparation of management reports relating to quality performance, patient safety, compliance, risks, and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of quality activities, audits, corrective actions, training, surveys, and improvement projects.
- Present findings, recommendations, and improvement opportunities to relevant committees and stakeholders.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Medical, Clinical, Quality Management, Health Administration, Nursing, or another relevant health-related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, healthcare excellence, compliance, accreditation, or risk management within a comprehensive tertiary healthcare facility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical quality, patient safety, healthcare quality improvement, and good clinical practices.
- Knowledge of healthcare accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, quality management systems, and compliance frameworks.
- Understanding of regulations and guidelines governing clinical, pharmaceutical, patient safety, and healthcare operations.
- Experience supporting quality improvement projects, process redesign, audits, surveys, and implementation of new programs or processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quality and performance data and develop evidence-based improvement recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Strong communication, presentation, documentation, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Healthcare, Clinical Management, Quality Management, Healthcare Administration, or another relevant health-related discipline.
- Experience working within a large tertiary or multispecialty healthcare facility.
- Experience with healthcare accreditation surveys and quality improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of patient safety and clinical risk management frameworks.
- Experience in policy management, governance, process improvement, and organizational excellence.
- Professional certification in healthcare quality, patient safety, risk management, or quality improvement is an advantage.
