About the Role
As an Agricultural Extension Officer, you will provide technical guidance and field support to improve agricultural productivity, promote sustainable farming practices, and enhance the health and yield of palm trees and fruit crops. You will work closely with farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and project teams to implement modern cultivation techniques and ensure compliance with best agricultural practices.
This position requires both strong academic qualifications and extensive practical knowledge of crop production systems, particularly in desert and arid environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advisory services to farmers and agricultural businesses.
- Conduct field inspections to evaluate crop health, irrigation systems, and farming practices.
- Develop and implement agricultural extension programs.
- Offer recommendations for improving palm tree and fruit tree productivity.
- Monitor plant health and identify pest, disease, and nutrient deficiency issues.
- Recommend integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Promote sustainable agricultural practices and efficient water management.
- Train farmers on modern cultivation techniques and best agricultural practices.
- Prepare technical reports, field assessments, and extension documentation.
- Support agricultural research and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with government authorities and agricultural organizations.
- Evaluate new farming technologies and recommend suitable applications.
- Ensure compliance with UAE agricultural regulations and environmental standards.
- Conduct awareness programs on crop management, irrigation efficiency, and soil conservation.
- Assist in implementing agricultural improvement projects across assigned regions.
Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- PhD in Agriculture (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or a related agricultural discipline
- Strong knowledge of agricultural science and crop production systems
- Experience working with palm trees and fruit tree cultivation
- Excellent understanding of irrigation systems and water conservation
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture and modern farming technologies
- Ability to conduct field visits and provide technical recommendations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent report writing and documentation abilities
Experience Requirements
Candidates should have:
- Proven experience in agricultural extension services
- Practical experience with date palm cultivation
- Experience in fruit orchard management
- Knowledge of crop nutrition and fertilization programs
- Experience in pest and disease diagnosis
- Familiarity with precision agriculture techniques is an advantage
