A leading food manufacturing organization in Abu Dhabi, UAE is seeking a HACCP System Compliance Officer to lead and strengthen food safety compliance, quality assurance programs, and regulatory standards across manufacturing operations.

HACCP professionals with a strong background in food manufacturing, food processing, quality assurance, food safety audits, HACCP implementation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with UAE food safety regulations, international food safety standards, and company policies while promoting a strong food safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Quality Management

  • Ensure full compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements across food manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain compliance with GFSI-recognized standards, food safety regulations, and internal quality policies.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections throughout production, warehousing, and distribution processes.
  • Identify quality issues, non-conformities, and process deviations while implementing effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Warehouse, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to maintain quality excellence.
  • Develop, review, and update quality documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and quality records.
  • Strengthen the organization’s food safety and quality culture through coaching and employee engagement.

Food Safety Management

  • Implement and maintain the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in accordance with ISO 22000, HACCP, and company food safety standards.
  • Monitor and verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Operational Prerequisite Programs (OPRPs).
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Warehouse Practices (GWP), sanitation, hygiene, pest control, allergen management, and temperature monitoring programs.
  • Monitor food safety throughout raw material receiving, processing, packaging, storage, and product distribution.
  • Verify cleaning and sanitation procedures to maintain hygienic production environments.
  • Conduct food safety risk assessments and support hazard analysis activities.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE food safety legislation and international food safety requirements.

Internal & External Audits

  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in internal audits, supplier audits, and third-party certification audits.
  • Lead audit preparation for GFSI, ISO 22000, HACCP verification, and regulatory inspections.
  • Conduct facility inspections covering:
    • Production areas
    • Warehouses
    • Cold storage facilities
    • Delivery vehicles
    • Trucks and tankers
  • Investigate food safety incidents and customer complaints.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement effective CAPA programs.
  • Monitor corrective actions until full compliance is achieved.
  • Maintain audit documentation and compliance records.

Facility Hygiene & Compliance

  • Conduct routine hygiene inspections across manufacturing facilities.
  • Verify compliance with:
    • Personal hygiene requirements
    • Cleaning and sanitation programs
    • Pest control systems
    • Waste management procedures
    • Environmental monitoring
  • Support factory compliance with food safety regulations and certification requirements.
  • Ensure manufacturing operations consistently meet food safety and quality standards.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare quality assurance reports and food safety compliance reports.
  • Analyze quality performance indicators and food safety metrics.
  • Support customer complaint investigations and product quality reviews.
  • Escalate food safety risks and compliance issues to management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.

Leadership, Training & Food Safety Culture

  • Deliver employee training on:
    • HACCP Principles
    • GMP
    • GHP
    • GWP
    • ISO 22000
    • Food Safety Management Systems
    • Hygiene and Sanitation
    • GFSI Standards
  • Support competency development across production and quality teams.
  • Promote continuous improvement and strengthen food safety awareness throughout the organization.

Budget & Performance Support

  • Assist in monitoring departmental budgets.
  • Track quality-related operational costs.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives without compromising food safety and product quality.
  • Contribute to performance reporting and operational efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Food Science
    • Food Technology
    • Food Microbiology
    • Quality Assurance
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Food Engineering
    • Biotechnology
    • Or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications are highly preferred:
    • HACCP
    • ISO 22000
    • GFSI
    • GMP
    • Internal Auditor
    • Lead Auditor
    • Food Safety Management Systems

Experience Required

  • Experience in Food Manufacturing, Food Processing, FMCG, Dairy, Beverage, Bakery, Meat, Poultry, or Ready-to-Eat food production.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • HACCP implementation
    • ISO 22000
    • Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS)
    • Quality Management Systems (QMS)
    • GFSI Standards (BRCGS, FSSC 22000, IFS, SQF)
    • UAE food safety regulations
    • Internal and external audits
    • Food hygiene and sanitation
    • Regulatory compliance
    • CAPA and Root Cause Analysis
  • Previous supervisory or assistant management experience is advantageous.
