Job Responsibilities
The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for supporting the hospital’s clinical laboratory operations while maintaining high standards of accuracy, patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Laboratory Testing and Clinical Analysis
- Perform laboratory investigations and diagnostic testing according to approved laboratory procedures and standard operating procedures.
- Handle, process, analyze, and report clinical specimens accurately and efficiently.
- Perform testing across relevant laboratory modalities according to assigned responsibilities and competency.
- Ensure appropriate identification, collection, handling, storage, and processing of patient specimens.
- Operate laboratory instruments and equipment safely and correctly.
- Verify test results and identify abnormal, inconsistent, or questionable results requiring further investigation.
- Follow established protocols for repeat testing, result verification, and critical-value reporting.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, worksheets, reports, and electronic documentation.
- Ensure timely completion and reporting of laboratory investigations.
Hospital Laboratory Operations
- Work effectively within a hospital or healthcare laboratory environment.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurses, clinical departments, and other healthcare professionals when required.
- Follow hospital policies relating to patient identification, specimen management, infection prevention, laboratory safety, and confidentiality.
- Maintain professional communication with clinical and non-clinical teams.

Laboratory Quality Management
- Implement and maintain laboratory quality management procedures in accordance with hospital policies and applicable accreditation requirements.
- Participate in internal quality control activities and monitor laboratory testing performance.
- Maintain appropriate quality control records and investigate quality deviations.
- Support corrective and preventive actions related to laboratory non-conformities.
- Participate in internal audits, external assessments, inspections, and accreditation activities.

Laboratory Safety and Infection Control
- Follow hospital infection-control policies and laboratory safety procedures.
- Handle biological specimens, reagents, chemicals, and laboratory materials in accordance with established safety requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow procedures for biological waste disposal and laboratory decontamination.
- Report laboratory incidents, accidents, exposure events, and safety concerns according to hospital policy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory working environment.
Equipment and Documentation
- Operate laboratory analyzers, equipment, and related systems according to manufacturer instructions and laboratory SOPs.
- Perform or support routine equipment checks, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting as assigned.

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a relevant laboratory discipline.

- Minimum 3 years of hospital laboratory experience is mandatory.
- Experience working within a hospital, medical center, diagnostic laboratory, or healthcare environment is required.

- Experience with laboratory quality management systems and accreditation requirements is essential.
- DHA Eligibility is mandatory.
