Medical Laboratory Technologist – UAE
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will perform a wide range of laboratory investigations in accordance with international laboratory standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements. You will ensure that all specimens are processed accurately, laboratory equipment is maintained efficiently, and test results are verified before reporting.
Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, you will contribute to timely diagnosis, effective patient treatment, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Perform routine laboratory investigations following professional laboratory standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Receive, sort, label, and allocate patient specimens according to testing priorities and laboratory protocols.
- Process and analyze specimens across multiple laboratory disciplines, including:
- Clinical Chemistry
- Immunology
- Serology
- Autoimmune Testing
- Haematology
- Coagulation
- Blood Transfusion Services
- Clinical Microscopy
- Conduct laboratory analysis of blood, urine, body fluids, cerebrospinal (spinal) fluid, and other clinical specimens.
- Review, analyze, and verify laboratory test results to ensure accuracy before releasing reports.
- Identify abnormal findings and follow laboratory procedures for confirmation and reporting.
- Maintain strict quality assurance and quality control procedures throughout all laboratory processes.
- Participate in laboratory quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient safety and regulatory compliance.
- Follow laboratory biosafety standards and infection prevention protocols.
- Support laboratory accreditation requirements and documentation.
- Assist in training new laboratory staff and contribute to continuous professional development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with hospital health and safety regulations.
- Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory analyzers and diagnostic equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and maintain calibration records.
- Record and maintain temperature logs for laboratory instruments, refrigerators, incubators, and storage equipment.
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Collaborate effectively with pathologists, clinicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a related healthcare discipline.
- Professional certification as required by local healthcare regulations.
- Eligibility to work within hospital laboratory environments in Dubai.
- Minimum 3–5 years of full-time experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
- Strong experience in Clinical Chemistry within an accredited hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
- Experience working with automated laboratory analyzers and quality management systems is highly desirable.
