A leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is seeking a qualified Physiotherapist to join its rehabilitation and multidisciplinary healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and patient education for individuals experiencing physical difficulties related to illness, injury, disability, surgery, or ageing.
The Physiotherapist will work with patients of different age groups and clinical backgrounds, including children, elderly patients, stroke patients, post-surgical patients, individuals with musculoskeletal conditions, and people recovering from accidents or sports-related injuries.
The role involves assessing patients’ physical conditions, identifying movement and functional limitations, developing individualized treatment plans, monitoring rehabilitation progress, and helping patients improve mobility, strength, independence, and overall physical wellbeing.
The Physiotherapist will use evidence-based physiotherapy techniques, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, movement therapy, rehabilitation techniques, and appropriate physiotherapy equipment such as ultrasound and other technological treatment modalities.The successful candidate will also work closely with doctors, nurses, rehabilitation professionals, physiotherapy assistants, patients, and their families to ensure coordinated and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients to identify physical, functional, musculoskeletal, neurological, and movement-related problems.
- Conduct appropriate physiotherapy assessments and develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation programs.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and regularly review physiotherapy treatment plans according to patient needs.
- Provide physiotherapy treatment using appropriate evidence-based techniques and clinical practices.
- Assist patients with joint, spinal, musculoskeletal, and mobility-related conditions, particularly following surgery.
- Support patients undergoing rehabilitation following accidents, injuries, strokes, surgery, disabilities, and other medical conditions.
- Treat patients across different age groups, including children, adults, elderly patients, and individuals with disabilities.
- Use therapeutic exercise, movement therapy, manual therapy, and appropriate physiotherapy technologies as part of patient treatment.
- Provide advice and education to patients and their carers regarding rehabilitation, mobility, exercise, posture, injury prevention, and management of physical conditions.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment programs when clinically appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient case notes, treatment records, clinical documentation, and reports.
- Collect and maintain relevant patient statistics and physiotherapy service data.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, carers, healthcare professionals, and other members of the rehabilitation team.
- Participate actively as a professional member of a multidisciplinary healthcare and rehabilitation team.
- Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical discussions.
- Supervise, guide, and instruct physiotherapy assistants and physiotherapy aides.
- Contribute to education and awareness programs for patients, residents, relatives, carers, and healthcare staff.
- Participate in continuing professional development, training programs, workshops, and relevant physiotherapy courses to maintain and improve clinical knowledge and skills.
- Ensure physiotherapy equipment is clean, safe, functional, and adequately maintained.
- Liaise with the Head of Department regarding the maintenance, replacement, and ordering of physiotherapy supplies and equipment.
- Ensure physiotherapy interventions and treatment programs are based on current evidence and sound clinical practice.
- Identify, document, and report adverse clinical events in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-focused working environment.
- Identify and report workplace hazards, incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
- Participate in quality management, continuous improvement initiatives, clinical audits, surveys, service evaluations, and needs assessments.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of safe systems of work within the physiotherapy department.
- Comply with occupational safety and health (OSH), infection prevention and control, clinical safety, and hospital policies.
- Follow documented OSH procedures, workplace safety instructions, and emergency protocols.
- Be familiar with emergency response, evacuation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with risk assessments and incident reporting when required.
- Follow healthcare waste management policies and procedures.
- Attend applicable OSH, infection control, emergency preparedness, mock drill, and workplace awareness programs.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and established safety systems when providing patient care.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional standards when handling patient information.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department or Medical Director.
Physiotherapist Qualifications
- Valid DOH (HAAD) license to practice as a Physiotherapist in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy from an approved and recognized college or university.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Physiotherapist in a JCI-accredited hospital facility.
- Current and valid professional license/registration in the candidate’s country of origin, where applicable.
- Strong knowledge of physiotherapy assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and patient management.
- Experience working with patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, orthopedic, post-surgical, mobility, and rehabilitation needs is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, movement rehabilitation, and physiotherapy treatment modalities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Arabic language skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, carers, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary hospital team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining professional and clinical standards.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation services and support available for elderly and disabled individuals.
- Ability to assess existing procedures and contribute to improved models of physiotherapy and rehabilitation service delivery.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a DOH-licensed Physiotherapist in Abu Dhabi with at least two years of relevant hospital experience, preferably within a JCI-accredited healthcare facility. The candidate should demonstrate strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, professional integrity, and the ability to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered physiotherapy services.
Experience working with elderly patients, individuals with disabilities, post-operative patients, stroke rehabilitation cases, orthopedic conditions, neurological conditions, and musculoskeletal disorders will be advantageous.The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary hospital environment while also demonstrating the ability to manage assigned patients with minimal supervision.
