A leading diagnostics organization is seeking Clinical Pathologist to join its laboratory team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide clinical and technical oversight across multiple laboratory disciplines, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and timely reporting of diagnostic results.
The role requires strong expertise in laboratory medicine, quality management, clinical interpretation, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The Clinical Pathologist will also contribute to regulatory compliance, accreditation activities, staff development, and continuous improvement of laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, validate, and clinically interpret laboratory test results across relevant laboratory disciplines.
- Provide clinical consultation and diagnostic support to referring physicians and healthcare professionals.
- Provide technical and clinical oversight of laboratory workflows, procedures, and testing practices.
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with applicable quality standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation guidelines.
- Support laboratory accreditation processes, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and continuous compliance activities.
- Advise clinicians and laboratory personnel on appropriate test selection and utilization.
- Assist with laboratory troubleshooting, investigation of testing issues, and resolution of technical or analytical problems.
- Develop, review, and implement laboratory protocols, procedures, and testing guidelines.
- Monitor laboratory quality indicators and contribute to quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
- Provide training, mentoring, and professional development support to laboratory technologists and other staff.
- Collaborate with clinicians, laboratory teams, management, and other stakeholders to improve diagnostic services.
- Participate in service development initiatives, workflow optimization, and implementation of new laboratory tests or technologies.
- Ensure laboratory reports are accurate, clinically relevant, and released within appropriate turnaround times.
- Promote best practices in laboratory medicine, patient safety, and diagnostic quality.
Qualifications – Clinical Pathologist
- Medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) with a recognized postgraduate specialization in Clinical Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, or a related specialty.
- Valid Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi license or DOH eligibility letter.
- Strong professional experience in clinical laboratory medicine with broad exposure to:
- Clinical Chemistry
- Immunology
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Sound knowledge of laboratory quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and quality management systems.
- Familiarity with laboratory accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, audits, and compliance procedures.
- Strong ability to interpret laboratory findings and provide clinically relevant guidance to physicians.
- Experience with laboratory troubleshooting, test utilization, protocol development, and continuous quality improvement.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and digital laboratory reporting platforms.
- Strong leadership and laboratory management skills, with the ability to guide teams and coordinate laboratory operations effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, laboratory professionals, management, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a clinical laboratory environment.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Arabic language skills are an advantage.
