A KHDA-licensed nursery in Al Barsha 2, Dubai, is hiring Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead and strengthen its inclusive education programme for Students of Determination. This rewarding role involves supporting children aged 45 days to FS2, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other additional learning needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, parents, therapists, and support staff to create inclusive learning environments while ensuring compliance with KHDA Inclusion Policy and UAE special education standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each child’s developmental goals.
  • Deliver daily one-to-one and small-group intervention sessions integrated within the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement effective inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Work closely with parents to monitor children’s progress and provide regular updates.
  • Liaise with external Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) and Occupational Therapists (OT) to ensure consistent support between therapy sessions and classroom learning.
  • Coordinate and supervise shadow teachers or learning support assistants where required.
  • Monitor student progress and recommend appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Ensure full compliance with KHDA Inclusion Policy, UAE inclusion standards, and the Students of Determination framework.
  • Train and mentor teaching staff on inclusive education practices and classroom accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, assessments, IEP records, and progress reports.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings with parents, therapists, and school leadership.
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all children.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should possess:

  • Recognised Special Educational Needs (SEN) qualification such as:
    • NASENCO (National Award for SEN Coordination)
    • PG Certificate or Diploma in Special Education
    • Or an equivalent internationally recognised qualification
  • Minimum 2 years of practical SEN experience, preferably within an early years or nursery setting.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • ABA Foundation Certification or similar autism intervention training is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience developing, implementing, and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Experience collaborating with external therapists including Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) and Occupational Therapists (OT).
  • Strong understanding of KHDA Inclusion Policy, UAE SEN regulations, and Students of Determination guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid DHA/KHDA clearance or willingness to obtain the required approvals.
