Job Summary

The IP Billing Officer is responsible for generating accurate inpatient bills for discharged patients by reviewing medical records, treatment details, medications, diagnostic investigations, and procedures. The role requires close coordination with medical, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and insurance teams to ensure timely billing, insurance verification, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

The successful candidate should have strong analytical skills, experience in medical billing software, and a thorough understanding of insurance approvals and hospital billing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and generate accurate inpatient (IP) bills for discharged patients.
  • Review patient medical records, physician orders, medications, laboratory investigations, radiology services, and procedures before final billing.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, approvals, policy coverage, exclusions, and authorization requirements.
  • Ensure all billable services are accurately captured in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
  • Coordinate with clinical departments to resolve billing discrepancies and missing documentation.
  • Maintain complete billing records and supporting documents in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance company guidelines, healthcare regulations, and internal billing procedures.
  • Process billing adjustments, corrections, and reconciliations when required.
  • Prepare billing reports and assist with month-end financial closing activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate billing documentation.
  • Respond to billing-related queries from patients, insurance companies, and internal departments.
  • Escalate unresolved billing issues to the Billing Supervisor or Finance Manager.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with healthcare privacy regulations.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications -Hospital Administration – Billing Officer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hospital billing or healthcare revenue cycle management.
  • Diploma or professional certification in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience handling Inpatient (IP) Billing in a hospital environment is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with UAE healthcare billing practices is preferred.
  • Experience working with medical insurance billing and reimbursement processes.

Skills – Hospital Administration

  • Strong knowledge of inpatient billing procedures.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, hospital services, and insurance processes.
  • Experience using Hospital Information Systems (HIS), ERP systems, and medical billing software.
