HSE Officer – Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to support solar and renewable energy projects in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on ensuring full compliance with HSE regulations, promoting a strong safety culture on-site, and minimising occupational risks across construction and operational activities in the renewable energy sector.
Key Roles & Responsibilities – HSE Officer
- Conduct routine and ad-hoc site safety inspections across solar renewable energy projects to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and non-compliance with HSE regulations.
- Ensure strict adherence to UAE HSE laws, Abu Dhabi EHS regulations, and international safety standards applicable to solar and renewable energy installations.
- Prepare, issue, and monitor corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA), ensuring timely closure of safety observations and audit findings.
- Develop, implement, and continuously update Health & Safety policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) specific to solar power projects.
- Design and deliver site-specific HSE training programs, toolbox talks, and safety inductions to ensure all employees, subcontractors, and visitors understand safety requirements and emergency procedures.
- Lead and participate in incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, preparing detailed investigation reports that identify root causes and recommend preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation and records, including incident reports, inspection logs, training attendance, permits, and compliance checklists.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and contractors to integrate health and safety considerations into project planning, execution, and daily operations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee involvement, safety reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure safe working practices at all times, especially for high-risk activities such as working at heights, electrical works, and heavy equipment operations.
- HSE Officer support internal and external HSE audits, inspections, and regulatory visits, ensuring readiness and compliance at all project stages.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience as an HSE Officer within solar, renewable energy, construction, or industrial environments.
- NEBOSH IGC (completed by 2021), OSHA, or equivalent internationally recognized HSE certification is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessment techniques, hazard identification, safety management systems, and incident investigation methodologies.
- Familiarity with solar power plant safety requirements, construction site safety, and renewable energy project risks is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in maintaining compliance with ISO 45001, UAE HSE standards, and project-specific safety requirements.
