A leading biotechnology laboratory in Dubai is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant (Biotechnology) to join its Research & Development (R&D) and Quality Control division. This position is ideal for candidates with 1–3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in enzyme research, molecular biology, protein analysis, and GMP-regulated environments.
The role is based in Dubai Science Park, Dubai, a major hub for life sciences, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies in the UAE.
Position Overview
The Research Assistant will support laboratory research, enzyme assay standardization, protein characterization, fermentation development, and quality control testing. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring product accuracy, regulatory compliance, and scientific integrity across production and market samples.
This position requires strong technical expertise in biotechnology laboratory techniques, documentation practices, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enzyme Assay Development and Validation
- Develop, optimize, and standardize enzyme assay protocols.
- Perform calibration and validation of assays using blind sample testing methods.
- Conduct routine and advanced enzyme assays on production batches and market samples.
- Ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and reliability of laboratory results.
2. Quality Control Testing and Batch Release
- Perform lot approval and rejection testing for production batches.
- Issue QC approval or rejection reports within one working day of receiving production samples.
- Generate detailed assay reports for market samples within the required timeline.
- Maintain complete traceability of analytical data and laboratory records.
3. Protein Research and Molecular Analysis
- Conduct protein profiling using SDS-PAGE (SDS Gel Electrophoresis).
- Perform chromatography-based purification and analysis techniques.
- Execute blotting procedures for protein detection and characterization.
- Support research in enzyme molecular biology and microbiology.
4. Product Development and Stability Studies
- Assist in the formulation and development of new biotechnology products under supervision.
- Conduct accelerated and long-term stability studies for existing and newly developed products.
- Document and interpret stability data to support product shelf-life determination.
- Collaborate with product development and application teams for performance evaluation.
5. Fermentation and Enzyme Production Research
- Participate in fermentation development for enzyme production.
- Support process optimization initiatives to improve yield and consistency.
- Assist in research activities related to enzyme development and microbial systems.
6. GMP Compliance and Laboratory Management
- Monitor calibration schedules for laboratory and production equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in laboratory and production areas.
- Prepare weekly GMP compliance reports for management review.
7. Regulatory and Safety Compliance
- Maintain laboratory safety standards in accordance with municipality regulations.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (lab coat, gloves, cap).
- Maintain updated regulatory documentation including MSDS for reagents and products.
- Ensure environmental and workplace safety conditions at all times.
8. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain systematic records of all assays, research activities, and experimental data.
- Update product specifications and maintain version control as approved by the Department Head.
- Submit research findings and performance reports in a timely and structured manner.
Educational Qualifications
- M.Sc. or M.Tech in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related life sciences field
- PhD in Biotechnology (preferred)
Experience Requirements
- 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience in biotechnology, enzyme research, or quality control
- Hands-on experience in enzyme assays, protein analysis, and molecular biology techniques
- Exposure to GMP-compliant laboratory environments
Required Technical Skills
- Expertise in enzyme assay development and validation
- Strong knowledge of SDS-PAGE, chromatography, and blotting techniques
- Familiarity with fermentation processes and enzyme production systems
- Understanding of regulatory documentation and laboratory quality standards
- Strong analytical, documentation, and data interpretation skills
Employment Details
